About CARL's Pet Care Center

Who We Are

C.A.R.L. (Canine Adoption and Rescue League) is an IRC 501(c)(3) Private Non-Profit No-Kill organization that has been advocating for animal welfare since 1996. Our mission is to end the needless death of companion animals through adoption, education, and community outreach.

C.A.R.L.'s Pet Care Center was established as a revenue-generating arm of the rescue — meaning every dollar you spend on boarding directly supports our life-saving work.

Our Facility

Our 2-acre property in Santa Paula was purchased in 2005 and is purpose-built for canine care. A caretaker lives on-site in a 2,400 sq ft residence, providing 24-hour oversight for every animal in our care.

60 Outdoor runs with concrete foundation & brick houses

30 Indoor/outdoor runs with concrete flooring

15 Outdoor runs with concrete & brick sidewalls

50 Exercise yards for off-leash play

The property is divided into two areas: the front acre is dedicated to public boarding and the caretaker residence, while the back acre — the Burnice Kraemer Sanctuary — houses adoptable dogs awaiting their forever homes.

Our Staff

All kennel technicians are trained in animal first aid and CPR. We take the safety of your pet seriously and invest in ongoing education for our team.

The Canine Adoption and Rescue League

CARL's Pet Care Center is just one part of a larger mission. The Canine Adoption and Rescue League rescues, rehabilitates, and rehomes dogs throughout Ventura County. Learn more at carldogs.org.
